About this listen
After an ill-considered action one night in London, disgraced knight Crispin Guest heeds the summons of the Archbishop of Canterbury, who has specifically requested Guest’s presence. The archbishop has received letters threatening violence against the bones of saint and martyr Thomas à Beckett, the greatest treasure on display in the cathedral in Canterbury. Guest, who has been living by his wits since being stripped of his honor, his title, and his lands, has earned a reputation for solving seemingly impossible puzzles and finding lost objects. Known to many as “the Tracker,” Guest is now charged with protecting the relics of the saint and discovering whoever is out to destroy them.
With his young apprentice, Jack Tucker, in tow, Guest arrives in Canterbury and is immediately accosted by an old acquaintance from court - one Geoffrey Chaucer - surrounded by a group of pilgrims lately come from London. Trapped among the travelers (who were, quite possibly, the model for Chaucer’s famous story cycle, The Canterbury Tales), and tripped up by a series of murders in the cathedral, Crispin has to uncover a hidden heretic and a killer before his friend Chaucer, carefully framed for the murders, is hanged for someone else’s crimes.

Excellent
A really good, enjoyable, exciting tale. Crispin seemed somewhat angrier than usual though I suppose that is to be expected after his experiences. Jack is progressing to be a lovely lad who you feel you want to mother. it's good to watch the characters become real. But then I always liked them and got cross with some of them too. I had got used to the narration style of Noah despite his pronunciation errors but I did like Jack's voice and Crispins so found this new chap a bit hard to listen to. Made everyone seem so much older and a bit overbearing. Nevertheless I enjoyed it.

Absolutely Delightful Tale
Chaucer, Murder & Cathedrals all go to make this yet another thrilling
listen. You are gripped from beginning to end with lots of plot happenings & quirky storyline in this thriller.
So much happens throughout this book that I can not pin point one particular point where it stands out, it is all outstanding. This is the my second purchase by this writer & I intend to buy all the rest of the books. I cannot wait. I like these so much, that it is known for me to have switch straight back to beginning & listen all over again as soon as it has finished.
The narrator is perfect, the most excellent to tell these types of Medieval thrillers. His voice captures each & every character in the book, so it is more or less like a full cast production.

Intriguing, interesting and informative
Crispin Guest is an unusual character and, if you like historical mysteries, the author brings a different slant on such stories using him as the hero. There are plenty of historical facts woven into fresh storylines, certainly plenty to keep me entertained and, since this is my favourite genre, I'm quite hard to surprise!
