About this listen
She's afraid of everything.
He's afraid she'll make him feel again....
Deer-shifter Mary North may be afraid of snakes, planes, tropical diseases, and strange people, but fate hands her a solo vacation at the luxurious, all-inclusive Shifting Sands Resort, and she's determined to enjoy herself. She isn’t prepared to meet her own mate - and find out he doesn’t want her.
Neal Byrne was an elite member of the military before he was captured and tortured in a private zoo for a collector’s amusement, forced to remain in his wolf form for 10 years. He’s working at Shifting Sands now, doing whatever odd work he can find, and trying to heal his emotional wounds. He knows he’s not fit for a mate, and he’s sure the beautiful, gentle Mary would be better off without him.
When an accident traps the two in an isolated slice of paradise, injured and alone, it will take all their courage and trust to survive. Can two hurt souls find healing at last, or will their fears keep them forever alone?
Tropical Wounded Wolf is a thrilling, stand-alone short wolf-shifter romance. No cliff-hangers!

Great book in a fantastic series
I have borrowed and read every book in this series and I love it. It's such a fun premise- a resort for shifters only. But there's something nefarious happening on this island and that arc will go throughout the series.
In this book, the second of the series, Mary, a deer shifter, meets her mate, Neal, who is really in a bad place because he was a captive of a "collector" of shifters. While the romance itself is a standalone, this particular part of the story makes more sense when you read the first book in the series and also, this aspect will continue to play out in the future book of the series. I loved how well Zoe Chant represented the intense fear from both Mary and Neal and also, how she played out their love. I also love the other characters in the series, even more so now that I've read every book in the series. Excellent characters, a nice mix of romance and intrigue and a great underlying arc that brought be back for more.
I requested and received the audiobook and I enjoyed it. I have to say, I had a different "voice" for Neal in my mind. The male narrator has a sweet smooth voice but I expected a more gruff voice. He tried to lower his voice to make it more gruff and he did a great job playing multiple characters. The female narrator was also quite good- perfect voice for Mary and she played the multiple characters pretty well. So overall, a good narration for a fun story!
