Summary

Essie has her elf back...but his mind is still stuck in that dungeon. The war is over. A peace treaty has been signed. But Farrendel and Essie still have a battle ahead of them. Will Farrendel be able to build a new life with Essie now that he no longer has a war to fight? Melantha has ruined her life and the lives of all those around her. Now that she finds herself far from home and married to a troll who was once her enemy and captor, can she figure out what love and honor truly mean before it is too late for all of them? Not everyone in Kostaria is happy with peace or with their new elven queen. If Rharreth and Melantha cannot find a way to bring peace to their troubled kingdom, war threatens not only their happily ever after, but Essie and Farrendel's as well.

The epic adventure and slowburn romances of the Elven Alliance series continue in this clean, romantic fantasy perfect for fans of K.M. Shea and Kenley Davidson.

A fantastic continuation to this incredible series

I loved everything about Troll Queen! It's such a fabulous continuation to the Elven Alliance series, and I was just so excited to continue all the threads from the previous book. :) I loved the theme of having to be broken again in order to heal properly, and how this applied not only for Farrendel but also for Melantha. I definitely enjoyed following more of Essie and Farrendel's story, even though after Death Wind and the blurb on this one, we knew PTSD was coming. Still, the healing/seeking help process was beautifully portrayed and I especially loved that it's not treated as a one-time cure-all solution. As for Melantha and Rharreth, I was definitely looking forward to how their marriage of convenience was going to play out since the hints to something more were dropped in the previous book. It was definitely eye-opening to see things from the trolls' perspective, as well as understand better their culture and honor system. The hints of trouble that the blurb alludes to made for a completely engrossing second half of the story, and I definitely enjoyed every minute of all the action, strategy, as well as sweet, romantic moments thrown in between.

The narrator was great as always with bringing every single character to life (definitely perks of having the same narrator for the series), plus giving each character a distinct/different one. I loved the gravelly tone for the trolls, and how many different ones she could make since a large part of the story is set in Kostaria. My only, and very minor "but" is that I keep mixing Weylind and Averett, and have a hard keeping them straight (maybe because they're both kings?). Still, even though I know I wouldn't have this problem if I were reading this book, I know it's on me, and by this point in the series, I'm just learning to roll with it, lol. Other than that, this is truly a great audio experience that pretty much played like a movie to me, thanks to all the different inflections and portrayal of emotions/feelings.

Overall, a fantastic continuation to this incredible series, recommended for fans of the author, as well as people who enjoy the Fantasy (mix of elves, trolls, and humans) + Sweet Romance genre. I seriously can't wait to dive into the next one! ~ 5 stars!

Blue crackles & white snow, a fight & change.

Just when I thought things couldn't get better than the first three books, it seems I was wrong. This book is completely amazing, switching perspectives gave the story so much depth. I loved hearing from Rareth's p.o.v, sorry if I misspelled his name. The troll prince is a fantastic character and so interesting, even Melantha grew on me. It was very hard to see her as an awful sister, she really comes into her own throughout this book. Farendel will always be my favourite, his personality and how much he has grown melts my heart. Essie is an outstanding main character, she is the type of woman you instantly love. Also Weyland in this is so hysterical, I'm loving him more and more with each book, they storyline is extremely good. This is a collection I have in paperback, ebook and on audio. I have read these twice so far, and will read them again before book 5 is released. The narrator does such a good job, even her impressions of Farendel and Weyland are remarkable. This series is a definite read for anyone who loves rich elven lore, and a slow burn romance that will warm even the iciest of hearts.
