Summary
Prepare to be tricked and treated in this third installment of the Chrissy the Shih Tzu cozy mysteries!
Fall has arrived in Knollwood, and Autumn Clarke is planning an elaborate Halloween event at The Peabody Mansion B&B to support the local animal shelter. With the entire town invited and the inn not officially open for overnight guests, an unexpected request lands Dana Wood, an A-list actor, as a long-term guest while shooting her latest movie in New Hope. Autumn and the gang step in to help with her baggage filled with betrayal, scandal, unsolved murder, a personal secret, and a cast of eccentric, suspicious characters. As the filming begins, Chrissy's shrewd judge of character and nose for unearthing incriminating evidence provide the backdrop for this twisty and thrilling tale.
Bonus features: book club questions, recipes of meals from the book, and a Halloween scavenger hunt list appear at the end of the book!

Lights, camera, murder
I enjoyed this book. This is book three in this fun and series but does work well as a standalone book if you haven't read or listened to the previous books. The story is told by multiple characters but this works well, as it keeps you guessing who the killer was, with so many suspicious characters in the starlets life. The mystery was good and contained a number of twists, although I wouldn't really say that Autumn investigated the murders in the normal sense of the word, such as asking suspects questions and I think her dog possible did more investigating than she did but still enjoyed the book. The characters are likeable but I think in some ways the dogs steal the show as they sound so cute. The author paints a very vivid picture so it is very easy to imagine all the characters, even in there spooky costumes. This book is a fun cozy mystery that you can enjoy anytime of year.
When Dana Wood's husband cheats on her and his mistress is found at the bottom of a cliff she knows her world is about to change in a big way. The only thing the B&B is planning is a Halloween party for the town in order to raise money for the local animal shelter. Dana Fall in love with Autumn's dog and the peace and quiet and offers to lend her help. I liked the narrator. She has a pleasant voice that she puts to good use voicing the characters.
