About this listen
When a powerful and ruthless American millionaire is found murdered in his English country garden, Philip Trent - English painter, poetry lover, and amateur detective - delves into the crime. He successively uncovers three different, plausible solutions to the murder, and in the process, comes face to face with his own fallibility, in detection and in romance.

Easily in top 5 of Classic Murder Mysteries
Trent's last case is the best of the series on the amateur sleuth.
Admired by Benson's contemporaries, Sayers, Christie and others, this book often tops the list of favourites in their own genre by his fellow professionals'. Is there higher praise?
It is easily five stars for me, and highly recommended to all those who love classic murder mysteries. LF London.
