About this listen

Two teenagers discover true love aboard the doomed ocean liner....

Elizabeth Farr never wanted to return to America. During her family’s vacation abroad, she has fallen in love with England, and is despondent when her father refuses to let her stay. Returning to New York means having her debut into society, and that means a swiftly arranged marriage. Elizabeth will never go to college, never learn to be a reporter - as she sees it, her life is over as soon as the Titanic reaches port. Of course, if she’s unlucky, her life will be over far sooner than that.

As Elizabeth and her family settle into their first-class cabins, Katie Hanrahan, a young Irish girl with dreams of finding fortune in America, makes her way to a steerage berth. Both girls have plans for the future, but love and death are about to intervene.

Great story

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book. The descriptions of the boat were great. Could really visualise what it would have been like. Great characters.

Informative and enjoyable

Very much enjoyed listening to this Audiobook. The narrator absolutely cracked it. The people in the story, their lives all believable. I especially like the epilogue at the end which updates you on the lives of the main survivors. There is another book after this one,un updater on the characters, which I am also looking forward to listening to.

Sad

Still brings tears to my eyes over 100 years later. Only if they heeded the warnings about icebergs. Only if they didn’t believe this unsinkable nonsense!

Erm…

Written 15 years after the James Cameron film. I’m unsure if the author could have written this without the film. The story followed virtually all the characters from the film. Even including Italian steerage passengers. I know it’s history but…
Only the narrator kept me listening on a long car journey, oh & the fact I didn’t use a credit or pay for it.
