About this listen
Tinder Translator is a dictionary of douchebaggery for the modern dater—and a hilariously sharp book for all feminists—from Aileen Barratt of @TinderTranslators. It will make you laugh, sigh, think, and leave you feeling empowered and resilient.
Ten years after the introduction of Tinder, dating apps have changed the terrain of human interaction, but many feel like they've been sent into the wilderness without a guide. For those dating cis-het men especially, the blatant misogyny encountered during every swipe session is depressing and enraging in equal measure. And then there is the not-so-blatant stuff. Scrolling through profile after profile, you'll see the same stock phrases: Good vibes only. Must have banter. Just ask. But what do they actually mean?
Tinder Translator takes you through an A to Z of terminology that permeates not just the dating world but the wider world. Through her Instagram account, Aileen has heard from thousands of people on their dating experiences, in addition to her own years spent on dating apps. This book is part reference, part rant and part rallying cry for anyone navigating the sometimes gross and exhausting experience of dating, but also just for everyone who is sick of the patriarchy, whatever their relationship status.

The book I wish I’d read 15 years ago
Interesting, funny and thought provoking. It drew my attention to my own internalised misogyny. Reflecting on past relationships, I’ve had some lucky escapes; Aileen is so right about the Lone Wolf.

Phenomenal
I absolutely loved listening to this, it really made me have a good reflect. Aileen reads it so well and is so honest and vulnerable throughout. Thank you for putting this out into the world.

So true about entitled, mediocre men.
If you have ever been on Tinder or pof etc and encountered the cheeky, entitled, boring dirt bags this book will make you see them as the bottom feeders they really are and laugh at them as they deserve to be laughed at, definitely worth a read.

A dating bible!
The book I wish I had read before I ever dared to set up an online dating profile. I’ve followed Aileen on Instagram for a while now and throughly enjoy her content. This book is no exception. Funny witty and I listened to the whole thing in one go.

Recommended for any gender
I've been following Aileen on Instagram for a few years now, but due to my long "to read" list put this off. I am currently not dating and happily single, but decided to give this a listen on my dog walks for some light entertainment. The book was funny, informative and also handled delicate matters sensitively. I ended up listening to it in the showers, whilst doing housework whilst driving and finished it very quickly. Most importantly it gave me confidence to re-approach the apps when I feel like I want to start dating again. Amazing work.

Never a truer word said
This book will have you shaking your head, laughing and probably even crying at that fact it is sad truth!
It will really get you thinking and help you to read between the lines of the profiles of many men who are not the kind you should ever give your time to. Power up!
