The three platoons of B Company each approached the mountain silently, treading carefully through a series of defensive minefields. But following an explosion, fighting quickly escalated with shocking speed and severity, resulting in some of the bloodiest close hand fighting, terrible injuries and shocking loss of life experienced by British troops since the Korean war.

Exceptionally well documented.
Really great listen, it gives a great insight into one of the major battles in recent history, it also highlights the confusion of battle at such close quarters from multiple perspective.

Honest, brutal, emotional and staggering account of the Battle
A truly amazing account of The Third Battalion The Parachute Regiment and it’s battle for Mount Longdon in the Falklands Island in June 1982.
A blow by blow account painstakingly researched of the battle from start to finish. Honest, brutal and very emotional detail of incidents where paratroopers - some as young as 17 fought, died and were injured.
A testimony to the training, ethos and above all courage and comradeship of all involved, with perhaps the inevitable cost of war.
Truly profound, the audio version bringing the whole thing to life.

blow by blow account of the Battle for Mount Longden
A minute by minute and blow by blow account of the battle of Mount Longden personal testimony personal stories some knowledge of military speak terminology is required most parts but once you get in to the Account of the battle it’s a must listen until the end . EXCELLENT JOB

Very indepth but some errors
I really enjoyed the book, it was very indepth but there were some very basic mistakes that annoyed me such as the re-occuring "Lieutenant Corporal" rank, also some of the voice actors seemed a bit feminine. It ended very suddenly which also made it feel rushed or unfinished.

The research that must have gone into this is astonishing. As an avid reader of war books, I can only wish others were of this standard.

Excellent Account of the battle for Mount Longdon
Really enjoyed the story, took a little bit of get used to the account being written in chronological order but by sub-units. Some of the accounts are very personal and it must have been quite challenging for someone of the soldiers to give their accounts.
I really wish that some the narrators had learnt a some basic military vernacular. L/Cpl is Lance Corporal and not Lieutenant Corporal.
Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s book and really bought to life a battlefield that I’ve not visited or guided others around and probably knew the least about. It was equally as ferocious as Goose Green, Tumbledown or Mt Harriet. But it was the only time the Argentinians attempted any form of organised counterattack and significant casualties continued to be taken after the battle due to the heavy weight indirect fire.

Brilliant Historic Account
It’s nice to read some military history that’s defiantly not exaggerated by personal ego. Can appreciate the work the author has done in creating such detail!

Terrific Factual Story. Narration by some - poor
This well researched and gripping book will be read mainly by servicemen, serving and retired and its impact is sadly marred by some of the narration. While many of the narraters were believable and read their parts well, the main narrative was read by a lightweight individual whose errors in military parlance and gravitas were both annoying and disappointing.
Not the authors fault but this error rests with Monoray Audio Books who should employ someone with military experience as advisor or ex military to do the narration.

Brutal and gripping
There are a lot of messages from the radio network logs repeated verbatim in the narrative, perhaps overly so, however that aside this is a great audio production. This gripping account of the battle for Mount Longden leaves little to the imagination and captures the astonishing intensiveness of the bloodiest battle of the Falklands War. The extraordinary feats of the young men of 3 PARA are laid bare, as are the terrible shortcomings of the military machine that was supporting them in battle. A brutal and gripping account that left me with a sense of awe and a sadness for the young lives lost.
