You can choose your house. Not your neighbours.

WELCOME TO YOUR DREAM HOME . . .
Salma Khatun is extremely hopeful about Blenheim, the safe suburban development to which she, her husband and their son have just moved. Their family needs a fresh start, and Blenheim feels like the right place.

MEET YOUR NEW NEIGHBOURS . . .
Shortly after they move in, Salma spots her neighbour, Tom Hutton, ripping out the anti-racist banner in their front garden. Choosing not to confront Tom, Salma takes the banner inside and puts it in her window. But the next morning she wakes up to find her window smeared with paint.

AND PREPARE FOR THE NIGHTMARE TO BEGIN . . .
This time she does confront Tom, and the battle lines between the two families are drawn. As things begin to escalate and the stakes become higher, it's clear that a reckoning is coming… And someone is going to get hurt.

A gripping thriller about nightmare neighbours, Those People Next Door explores the loss of innocence and how far we’d go to defend ourselves and the people we love.

Good kitchen sink drama

I enjoyed this escalating neighborhood dispute. Good story and engaging plot, also well narrated and an easy listen.

Another interesting story line

I have enjoyed all of this author’s books. Prejudices, misunderstandings coupled with family problems led to a great read.

Cliched and not that believable

Shame as this book started well, but became more and more unbelievable as it’s progressed.
Could of wrapped it up in one chapter.
The ended was ridiculous.

Thought provoking in parts and reminds us all that making assumptions based on stereotypes can and does get you into trouble.
Only the kids come out looking innocent, unfortunately the adults not so.
Still was worth a listen and passed the time while doing my jigsaw!

A surprisingly compelling book not to be overlooked

Having thought this might just be another coffee table crime novel, this really surprised me. Good pace, twists and turns, self reflection and a modern aesthetic keeps you interested throughout. Will definitely be looking up more of Kia’s writing.

Couldn’t stop listening!

My dog is exhausted having to endure extra long walks as I just wanted to keep listening to this riveting story. All the characters are so well developed and I had no idea how the story would end. Will definitely read more by this author.
