About this listen

For years Leo Waterman eked out a meager living as a PI in Seattle. He survived run-ins with murderers, drug dealers, and jealous wives, but when Rebecca, the love of his life, dumped him to marry someone else…that was a different story. After Leo’s trust fund finally kicks in, he takes his broken heart and slips gratefully into retirement — until the day he learns that Rebecca has vanished and no one, not even her overbearing mother, can locate her.

Together with his motley crew of homeless drunks and reprobates, Leo sets out to find Rebecca, following her twisted trail from the rain-swept streets of Seattle to the murky depths of the great North Woods. The stink of it all emanates from none other than Rebecca’s new husband, whose lies cast Leo into the path of a ruthless gang that will stop at nothing — not even murder — to protect what’s theirs.

Leo Waterman can do better

Despite his success in this book, the story did lack a little consistency and imagination. Swinging between super hero and painful victim.
The thriller based on an over age PI is a haphazard wander through the US north west and the the local villans without a coherent storyline.
Not much of George and his band of drop outs was a disappointment too.
Still the storyline did move forward fast enough and the violence was enough to satisfy the blood thirsty reader.

No Jeff Harding..... argh

Leo Waterman, has become key figure in my adult life, a gumshoe that has sense of humour and listens to Traffic.

I was looking forward to this talking edge of my strolls to work so why did they replace Jeff harding's witty tone with this Patrick Lawlor. Okay, so may be Jeff busy or a new publisher or something however NOW audible are also selling recordings of the original Jeff Harding editions. You have issues audible....

That said it is a Leo Waterman story - so it is good but damaged...
