My name is Sandy.
My husband is Detective Superintendent Roy Grace.
But when I disappeared, even he couldn't find me . . .
This is my story.
There's more to Sandy than meets the eye. A woman with a dubious past, a complicated present and an uncertain future.
Then she was gone.
Some will think they know how it ends . . .
Her disappearance caused a nationwide search. Even the best detective on the force couldn't find her.
They thought she was dead.
But nobody knows this . . .
Where did she go? Why did she run? What would cause a woman to leave her whole life behind and
simply vanish?
For the first time the truth behind Sandy Grace’s dramatic disappearance is revealed. They Thought I Was Dead will thrill fans and newcomers alike with its gripping story of a woman on the run. This is Sandy's story.

The sadness of Sandy's story.
Loved the fact we got to know what happened to Sandy. To know she loved Roy to the end. Sorry for her son Bruno.. I hope Roy takes his son Bruno in. Also that the Beautiful island of Jersey was part of this story. Places like Corbiere lighthouse and Bouley Bay with the lovely Mad Mary's beach cafe that i have visited many times over the years and still do .
Well done Peter James for another fantastic story.

Sandy’s story is so human, yet so tragic. It really tugs at the heart strings.
I disliked nothing. I could not put it down and have read and reread parts of it feeling that much of it is relevant to some many people nowadays.

Knew she was a baden.
Really enjoyed the story and enjoyed knowing at last what happened to Sandie. Really disliked her but that is purely down to the masterful writing of Peter James. Great read.

The best yet
Absolutely could not put this book down, the best I have read from Peter James yet. So well constructed, a real page turner. As it is Sandy’s story you can read it at any time in the Grace series, not necessarily in order of the Roy Grace novels (although I wouldn’t recommend it as a starting point in this series, it would be better to have some initial backstory from the Roy Grace books).

Excellent Narration
I found it very repetitive and far fetched by times. Not his best in my opinion. But it didn’t stop me finishing the book!

Characters so well constructed
I enjoyed that the plot was woven so well around the life of Roy Grace. Sandy was complex, flawed and self destructive, yet she found strength to fight her own nature and the consequences of poor decisions. Again she faught her suicidal impulses but then the twist. Her murder.
