About this listen
Caitlyn Aguirre is no magician - but that doesn't make her useless.
After discovering her true talent and uncovering the long-lost secret behind Objects of Power, Cat returns to school - intent on showing everyone what she can do. But her mere existence is a threat to the balance of power, convincing some to befriend her, some to try to use her...and some to remove her.
And when she and her closest friends become the target of a deadly plot, she must use all her wits to save them and escape before she becomes the first casualty in a deadly war.

2nd gripping book of zero collection
The actress who reads this book really brings it alive. The story is even pacier than the last ones. Master plot line

The zero curse
Was pleasantly surprised at this story “and yet” these 2 words feature quite heavily but if you can get passed that good story well narrated and enjoyed it enough to get the second in the series

2nd time
2nd time listening to this and I love it even more! Definitely one of the best magical stories out there. Why they've not made it into a movie I'll never know.

alternative view into school of magic
My first thoughts in the opening chapters continuously dragged me back into Hogwarts. However once you get past that you then identify with the characters, in fact knowing the Harry potter stories probably helps visualise some of the scenes, action and the magic.

Very good, if you can ignore the frustrating parts
Whilst I'm still enjoying the story, it is a struggle to relate to the main character now. No way would any 12 year old have that much sense and knowledge. I also struggled with the fact teachers are now coming to her for everything from the schools defences to their own personal projects. On the flip side, she is frequently very petty, angry and vindictive, and believes everyone shares her extremely low opinion of herself, which makes her very hard to like.
The writing is very repetitive in places but at least the constant references to her having no magic are much less in this book (though sadly still there).
Ignoring all that, the story is still gripping, especially the last third of the book. I will be moving on to book 3 and hope the bumps start too even out more.
