About this listen

The Truth Is Out There…But So Are Lies.

#1 New York Times best-selling author Claudia Gray extends the story of The X-Files beyond its eleventh season in this thrilling--and romantic--original novel.

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are still reeling from the death of their son William, but cautiously joyous about Scully’s unexpected pregnancy. Determined to raise this child together, Mulder and Scully struggle to find meaning away from the X-Files as they navigate the uncertain waters of their relationship. Then the FBI asks for their help tracking down two mysterious serial killers: one who seems to be able to control electricity, and another who disappears from the scene of the crime in what witnesses describe as a puff of smoke. It’s enough for the Bureau to re-open the X-Files—if Mulder and Scully are willing.

They reluctantly agree, cautious about what it might mean for them and their unborn child but determined to find justice for the killers’ victims. But their return to the X-Files sparks the interest of a shadowy cabal, the heirs to the now-dead Syndicate, and Mulder and Scully soon discover that their investigation is connected to a worldwide threat on an unprecedented scale . . . one with their own future at its heart.

Ok story but wanted more

I had high expectations for this audiobook. So much so I refused to read any reviews.
I was left feeling unsatisfied. It was ok and nice to hear about mulder and scullys life after season 11 but it felt like a mediocre fan fiction. Would I recommend it? Not to hard core fans but to be fair I think hard cores fans wouldn’t listen. It’s one persons interesting take on life after XF.

Loved it

I found the narrator a bit annoying with the vocal fry and rasping. And the accents weren’t great when was in character. But good story.

Good. Not Great.

Perihelion attempts, somewhat successfully and somewhat not, to blend all parts of The X Files together, from the standard 'monster of the week' type story into the wider mainline arc of the conspiracy and alien plots.

It does read like fan fiction at times, which it arguably is, with Mulder and Scully making house and a life together. it also rights a few wrongs of the revival seasons,

There's just nothing here that ever really feels like the classic show, it is almost entirely set in Washington DC, and really misses the old school exploration of the many strange shades of Americana. This is only the first book, and there's some good in here, but I'd like sequels to try and recapture the way the show felt at its best, not just doing it's best to paper over the cracks of the show at worst, or dullest.
