This is one case Miller won't want to open . . .

Unconventional Detective Declan Miller has a problem. Still desperate to solve the murder of his wife, a young man has just appeared on his doorstep with a briefcase . . . containing a pair of severed hands.

Miller knows this case is proof of a contract killing commissioned by local ne'er do well Wayne Cutler - a man he suspects might also be responsible for his wife's death. Now Miller has leverage, but unfortunately he also has something that both Cutler and a villainous fast-food kingpin are desperate to get hold of.

Chuck in a Midsomer Murders-obsessed hitman, a psychotic welder and a woman driven over the edge by a wayward Crème Egg, and Miller is in a mess that even he might not be able to dance his way out of.

Brilliant sequel to the last dance

As a Blackpudlian who grew up ballroom dancing, this new dancing detective protagonist had a certain appeal for me. I loved the Last Dance and this sequel brings everything together.

Had it on preorder and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommended.

Everything - favourite so far!

Loved everything about this book, it had humour, great story and the narration was amazing. I kept getting funny looks from my husband and kids as I giggled with headphones in going about my usual jobs. The downstairs loo has never been so sparkly! Thanks to everyone involved for making the day a little more bearable, and with current news etc we do need it. 👍🏼

Totally entertaining

A perfect mix of crime fiction and comedy. Totally engaging characters portrayed really well by the narrator. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Very enjoyable crime thriller

Of course British detectives and humour go together!! Enjoyed reading the first book, listening to the second as an audiobook took it to a whole new level. Narrator brought the Lancashire setting and characters to life. May the series continue!

Three interesting main characters

I enjoyed the story and the characterisation but found the reading/performance rather flat and dispiriting.

I LOVE this series

I’m new to this author but I’m definitely going to search out other works. I have loved the tone, the characters and the narration is perfect. Not a lot not to love.

A fabulous continuation from The Last Dance

Firstly the narrator is fabulous for this part and makes the story for me. Secondly the story - I laughed, I loved the characters and I also cried at the end - thank you Mark Bilingham didn’t think you could beat The Last Dance but it is wonderful.
