Summary
Opposites don’t just attract—they ignite—in a flirty against-all-odds romance by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Lauren Landish.
Wyatt Ford hightailed it out of Cold Springs to get away from his influential family and the unwanted privilege that came with it. Returning for his brother’s wedding dredges up every reason he left. One unexpected bright spot: a curvy knockout who slings burgers, hustles pool…and hates the last name Ford.
Hazel Sullivan is fiercely independent and happy to be maid of honor for her best friend’s wedding, but she isn’t looking for romance. Especially not with a man whose family is dividing her town into a battleground with their development plans. Fighting the family is easy. Fighting Wyatt? Not so much. Why does the enemy have to be so drop-dead gorgeous?
The sparks that fly between Hazel and Wyatt might start out as combat, but one kiss and it’s total surrender. How is a happy ever after even possible for two people with so little in common? Except, of course, for an overwhelming attraction and that growing temptation to say “I do” themselves.
Critic reviews
“…romance author Lauren Landish's fun and funny novel [is brought] to life thorough the dual (and dueling) narrative skills of C.J. Bloom and Teddy Hamilton. … pure entertainment…immediate and enduringly popular.”—Midwest Book Review
“Landish’s steamy novel begins as a standard wedding-fling romance but develops into an exploration of small-town life, the rising costs of real estate, and navigating family responsibility and personal ethics, all of which anchor a sexy love story featuring a bold heroine who loves a good innuendo and a decent hero who knows that the wrong bridesmaid is the right woman for him.”—Library Journal

Entertaining!!!
Great narration as always by Teddy and CJ, they always have a way of grabbing your attention and bringing books to life!
Wyatt may be a Ford by name, but does his personality fit with it?... Hazel is a sassy, independent and loyal woman who has grown up hating the Ford's. Can Wyatt convince her he's the complete opposite of his uncle?... There's plenty of twists, drama, family, friendship, tension, sizzling chemistry, witty banter, laughter, community and more throughout. Absolutely love Lester and his antics, had me laughing out loud a few times! I'll be on the look out for more by the author and Cold Springs...

This was more about small-business advocacy than romance
Sorry to say the majority of this sorry felt rooted in small-business advocacy/small-town preservation… which is great… but the romance was, suffice it to say, lacking.
I never got into it, because all the conversations centered on two things: Wyatt’s bad family vs. Hazel’s nice family, and the town politics. That’s it. It was the same conversation over and over, the steam/intimacy was perfunctory and served no purpose except to keep the story ticking along. And the whole “wrong bridesmaid” thing was completely incongruous with the actual story. It was silly and made no sense.
Finally, while Teddy H is always a treat… CJ Bloom threw the cadence and tone off.
