Summary

Midlife is full of surprises. Not all of them are working for me.

At 42, I’ve had my share of ups and downs. Relatively normal, except when the definition of normal changes...drastically.

New York Times best-selling romance author: Check
Amazing besties: Check
Lovely home: Check
Pet cat named Thick Stella who wants to kill me: Check
Wacky-tabacky-dealing aunt: Check
Cheating husband banging the weather girl on our kitchen table: Check
Nasty divorce: Oh, yes
Characters from my novels coming to life: Umm...yes
Crazy: Possibly

Four months of wallowing in embarrassed depression should be enough. I’m beginning to realize that no one is who they seem to be, and my life story might be spinning out of my control. It’s time to take a shower, put on a bra, and wear something other than sweatpants. Difficult, but doable.

With my friends - real and imaginary - by my side, I need to edit my life before the elusive darkness comes for all of us.

The plot is no longer fiction. It’s my reality, and I’m writing a happy-ever-after no matter what. I just have to find the write hook.

Funny but magic is subtle

This was a fun read, the writing has many preposterous situations and Robyn mixes hilarity in many odd situations, but it works well. There is some mystery and the mystical part is a little too subtle for my liking but it was still very good. Ends on a cliffhanger.
We meet our fmc in the middle of a depressive episode as a consequence of a midlife crisis as a result of her divorce. Soon she starts to realise that she has something special going on and we discover more of the mystery along side her.
This is free on ku and also + catalogue audible. and they don't sync as Amazon is a greedy 💩 and unless we pay extra they don't make our lives easier (despite the membership fees we already pay 😠😤).
Gre at narration.

Cliffhanger

First off I enjoyed the narrator as there were a couple of reviews saying they did not enjoy her.
I myself found her easy to listen too as she does many great voices for different characters.

the story how ever I found I enjoyed as sadly most of us have at some point had an ex who has cheated on us so I found myself rooting for the main character to win in the divorce.
there are some funny parts throughout the book also although this book is a little different to the authors usual style.

warning though this book just ends as they say on a cliffhanger.
I myself was a little disappointed how it just stopped.
I will be now going to purchase the second book.

Another brilliant book by Robyn.

Great book, yet another series to become addicted to.
Also narrated brillantly, can't wait to start the next book.
