About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A gripping thriller from the bestselling author of The Couple at No 9.

Emilia Ward is just an ordinary mum living happily in suburban London with her husband and two children - a teenager from her first marriage, a little boy from her second. She also happens to be the bestselling author of the Miranda Moody detective novels.

But when Emilia embarks on her tenth novel, life takes a disturbing turn: an incident straight out of the plot of one of her novels occurs in real life. Just an unsettling coincidence, she thinks.

Until it happens again - and again.

Then someone she knows dies in the same way as a victim in the book she's currently writing...

Why is someone doing this?

How do they know what she is writing?

And what if Emilia and her family are next?

Excellent plot + brilliant narration….

= fantastic book! Loved it and had one of those moments at the finish where it feels like a loss for it to end. I thought the plot sounded a little silly when I read the synopsis, but it really isn’t. Gemma Whelan’s narration is so great that I am actually going to look up an elocution app so I can sound a little posher!

Complex….. sending sometimes down wrong track !

The complexities and trying to make connections between and amongst the characters. a real who-dun-it. Recommend for long winter walks ( not on the mountains of course )

More twists and turns than a mountain road...

Having recently been introduced to the works of Claire Douglas and having rapidly made my way through them, I couldn't wait for this book to be released. It did not disappoint and constantly left me wanting more - just when you think that you have it all worked out, along comes another curve ball! A fantastic read, highly recommended.

sadly it dragged for me

the story was okay but but was easy to guess the “twists”.
took me weeks to finish it, finishing actually felt like a chore.
probably wouldn’t recommend.
