About this listen

'Michael Connelly is a powerhouse, an unstoppable force in crime fiction. The Waiting is proof he is at the top of his game."
MICK HERRON, #1 bestselling author of SLOW HORSES

****

IN COLD CASES,
IT'S NOT THE HOPE THAT KILLS YOU.
IT'S THE WAITING.

LAPD Detective Renée Ballard gets a DNA hit in a case that has gone unsolved for twenty years. A recently arrested man is genetically related to a serial rapist who terrorised the city of angels.

But when the relative is revealed, it is the last person you want to accuse unless the evidence is watertight...

With the help of the newest volunteer to the cold case unit - patrol officer Maddie Bosch, Harry's daughter - Ballard finally has another badge on the team. But Maddie has an ulterior motive for getting access to the city's library of souls.

Because some crimes have been waiting to be solved longer than others...

An electrifying and authoritative thriller from one of the greatest crime writers of all-time - the author behind Amazon Prime's Bosch and Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer.

Fab storytelling .

Not too gory, nicely brought along with an elegant legacy undertone to it. Ballard and Bosh still at their best. Lovely to hear long known voices as well.

Best Ballard and Bosch book so far

Best Ballard and Bosch book so far, now have to wait for the next book. Excellent multi story book, with twist and turners.

Ballard and Bosch have done it again!

The insertion of the notorious Black Dahlia case into the middle of Ballards procedural work for the solving of crimes in her Cold Case Unit was sheer genius. Two for the price of one. Best one in the series yet. When do we get the TV series? 5 stars.

Best so far?

Might be…
excellent in the way the stories intertwine - great voices and delivery. Hope the next one is as good

Great listen

Great listen and great story. I am not surprised as I’ve read/listened to all Michael Connelly’s books. I love the split narration between Ballard, Bosch & Bosch. Cant wait for the next one!

Great Plot and Story

Another fantastic Ballard and Bosch story. Read everything MC has written. First one I’ve listened to as Audio book - audio performances ok but think I prefer to read …. I had voices in my head from all previous books and slightly odd to have Titus Welliver and Maddie Linz voicing albeit I have enjoyed their performances in the TV series. Also not sure about the male voices that Ms Lakin was using. Stil didn’t detract from classic Connelly.

great story, loved all the build up and progression throughout the story, but though it ended a bit sudden. it just seemed to be in full flow and then, ok that's it solved and book finished

Multiple excellent narrators Makis very entertaining.

Generally a good story the end was a little bit dodgy. What really stood out was the wonderful Production on this with multiple narrators aching different parts which made it so much more engaging.

Turn pager - time just flew by.

I am do delighted that Bosch Junior is findings her own voice and Renee is the mentor. This is such a well crafted story that layers the tension but by bit. There is so much detail but you never get bogged down. Wholly recommend the read.
