Summary
At the age of 20, I never thought I'd have to make the choice between true love or my soul.
Then again, I never thought I'd be faced with any of the terrible, wonderful, impossible things that exist in Lyle Carraway's world. The vampire is a weakness I never even knew I had, and when he whispers promises of immortality and sensual luxury, it's more temptation than I can handle.
Good Catholic boys from small towns aren't supposed to make deals with the devil, but I never counted on him being this hard to resist. Or being the key to the family I've always wanted. If I accept his forbidden gift and turn out to be a prized male omega, there's a chance I could bear his baby and his name.
Too bad my guilty conscience isn't the only force conspiring to keep us apart.
This is a standalone vampire mpreg romance and the first in a series.

Enjoyed the story, liked the narration
This was such a good story - a bit of a twist to typical vampire fare. I liked Henry a lot - a bit of a smartass with a good heart. After he save a vampires life? afterlife? he is given a 'choice' to be turned or truly die. Being a 'good' Catholic boy he chooses to die. I didn't think the book espoused on religion, more like a tongue in cheek look at how an individual uses their faith to live, (or die, as the case may be :) ). Lyle and his family were great. Loved the storyline, loved that Henry accepted that vampires could be charming but also monsters; just like his fellow humans.
The narration was good, but in my opinion, not quite right for the story. JJ Jenness was great as Henry - he captured his 'just-turned-20' tone. He was also good with Cora's voice. On the other hand, he was good, (but not great with the older), more mature voices, especially Lyle's - though he was a bit better with their dad. Overall, I enjoyed listening to the narration - it's definitely a good way to enjoy the book.
I requested and received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are voluntary.

boring
Not a fan of the narrator. The protagonist and standard of writing are cringe. 'im a Catholic' 😕
