Summary
Winner of the 2021 Business Book of the Year Award.
What is the difference between a startup that makes it, and one that crashes and burns? Behind every story of success is an unfair advantage.
But an Unfair Advantage is not just about your parents' wealth or who you know: anyone can have one. An Unfair Advantage is the element that gives you an edge over your competition.
This ground-breaking book shows how to identify your own Unfair Advantages and apply them to any project. Drawing on over two decades of hands-on experience, including as the first Marketing Director of Just Eat (a startup now worth over four billion pounds), the authors offer a unique framework for assessing your external circumstances in addition to your internal strengths. Hard work and grit aren't enough, so they explore the importance of money, intelligence, location, education, expertise, status and luck in the journey to success. From starting your company, to gaining traction, raising funds and growth hacking, The Unfair Advantage helps you look at yourself and find the ingredients you didn't realise you already had, to succeed in the cut-throat world of business.

Opportunity is there for the taking
Good insights into the opportunities that we all come across in business, opportunities that we don't necessarily see or think we should take. But in hindsight its ours for the taking

spot on
Thank you Ash and Hasan for this book. It is the most practical and grounding business and almost self help book I've ever read.
I have always put grounded in the same category as "realistic". You know in that limiting "your a day dreamer" kind of way. I don't mean that here. It's grounding in that I feel as though my pie in the sky dreams have a path from reality when you view it through the framework.
Another thing that really excites me about this book is it's two Brits and none of the just work harder, I work 36 hours a day and sleep for 12 Americanism that I find so of putting.
Anyway thank you and congratulations to you both.

Great listen, very thought provoking. Worth it.
Just finished listening to the The Unfair Advantage and met the team today. It was hyper interesting on so many levels. Yes it gives examples of unfair advantage of individuals who went on to make millions and advice on how to have the right mindset (individually and as a team) for a start up, but more importantly looking at your self.
The first step on any journey is you. Understanding, the strength and weakness, with opportunities you hold is what will make and break you. The MILES framework, is an the assessment coupled with emotion intelligence sets you up for life, no matter what it throws at you. The key for any person, not just start ups.
Best insight from the event, think it was Ash from one of the slides. "Sustainable competitive advantage" key factor in your business and yourself.
Highly good read/listen and more importantly for anyone one in thier early 20's
My heartful thanks to Ash Ali and Hasan Kubba.
