Summary

I'm learning to embrace who and what I am, but there's one thing I can't face: the night Zak betrayed me. But even with the mysteries of our shared past hanging between us, I can't turn Zak away when he asks for my help.

Powerful fae are going missing, and when he tried to investigate, Lallakai vanished too. Now he wants me to venture with him into the territory of the Shadow Court, but its bloodthirsty courtiers don't welcome meddling druids.

Danger is gathering around us, seen and unseen. As we uncover incomprehensible clues about the missing fae, we realize this nightmare runs deeper than we imagined, and unveiling it means delving into the past-our past.

If I abandon Zak now, he'll never make it out alive. But if I stay at his side, if I face the truth of that night, it will destroy us both.

shadow of a good story

TLDR: you can skipp this one, it has an exelent start (incidentaly the bit you get a sample of) but the rest of the book is generic drivel FAR below Anette Maries usually high standards what cud have been a complex plot staring for once mainly fey charakters and maybe some other Spiritalis mythics turns out to instead be a generic double betrayal mixed with fetch quest. the only real result of this is that Zac is now a AA battery and Lolakai is Sylvanas from world of Warcraft but somehow less compelling while nicking Rykers tension-defusing OP reincarnation power. anny newly introduced charakter either does not matter or is killed off during the book, most of the fey are not the enigmatic strange creatures you find elsevere in this setting only ever showing powers seen elsevere and motives with exactly 1 dimention. hekk the "queen of death" is basikly (old/better) Lolakai but without the wings being relegated to little more than a mc-guffin witch occasionally makes sounds. but hey, at least they got 2 VA's? thoue they voice separate chapters instead of charakters leaving them stil short of the lofty heights of the Cain (40k) books do not waste your time. credits or money on this one. you can access something like half of its good part in the prewiev
