Summary

A Warhammer 40,000 novel

Pride is everything for the dynastic kings of the Necron race, who have awakened after millennia to see their empires occupied by foul beasts and simple minds. For the Necron Lord Oltyx, the Ithakas dynasty was his by right, but the machinations of the court see him stripped of his position and exiled to a forgotten world.

Listen to it because

See the struggles of the Necron court from their own eyes, and discover the lengths one Lord will go to for the status they desire.

The story

Exile to the miserable world of Sedh, the disgraced Necron Lord Oltyx is consumed with bitterness. Once heir to the throne of a dynasty, he now commands nothing but a dwindling garrison of warriors, in a never-ending struggle against Ork invaders. Oltyx can think of nothing but the prospect of vengeance against his betrayers, and the reclamation of his birthright. But the Orks are merely the harbingers of a truly unstoppable force. Unless Oltyx acts to save his dynasty, revenge will win him only ashes. And so he must return to the crownworld, and to the heart of the very court which cast him out. But what awaits there is a horror more profound than any invader, whose roots are tangled with the dark origins of the Necrons themselves.

Written by Nate Crowley. Narrated by Richard Reed.

Another hit

Another great piece by Crowley.
A compelling and interesting story about necron dynastic strugless, suprisingly enough a heros journey for a lord wronged and a dynasty in ruin.
Also for any interested in the flayed ones. This book is great for how much attention and detail the ghouls get.

Story, great
Voice acting superb
A must for any necron enthusiast

BEST book I have ever bought

Absolutely loved this book, the way it showed the raw power of the Necrons, but also revealed a deeper level to them I had no idea existed. Phenomenal story telling and voicing, immediately bought the second one!

Another great Necron story

This is a great story but I will say don’t start this hoping it will be the infinite and the Devine, it’s, it’s own story and a very good one at that. I won’t spoil anything but definitely worth a listen.

Really good book and even better 40k book!

The Twice-dead king is pretty damn solid listen, it's narrated well and the story itself is really good. Though because of some of the high concepts that come with Necron books you might have to rewind a minute or so every now and then if you lost focus and suddenly found yourself lost. However that's all it takes, just rewind a minute and you'll get right on track.

Since I mentioned losing focus this book is actually really good at keeping you with it, it's written so well that it makes even some of the more inhuman and difficult to relate with concepts quite easy to keep up with instead of causing you to zone out constantly.

I've listened to plenty of books that just completely loose me, even if they were about as generic as fantasy can be to the point where I've had to completely restart them after the first hour or two several times because I just kept zoning out and getting lost. So that speaks volumes about how well this book is written.

A good warhammer book

First if this is your warhammer book I WOULD NOT recommend this, it uses a lot of in universe technical jargon, if you want a good starter for our robot boys you would be better off reading the divine and infinite. But if you are aware of the universe then it is a really good book
