About this listen

Find the truth. Solve the murder. Never reveal your secret.

Twelve years ago, eight friends ran an exclusive group at university: The Murder Masquerade Society. The mysteries they solved may have been grisly, but they were always fictional - until their final Christmas Masquerade, when one of the group disappeared, never to be seen again.

Now, the remaining members of the group receive an invitation to a reunion masquerade, to be held in a beautiful and remote country house in Scotland. When they arrive they are each assigned a new identity themed around the Twelve Days of Christmas - they become Lady Partridge or Mr Gold; Lord Leapworth or Doctor Swan. The game begins, and it feels just like old times.

Until the next morning, when Lady Partridge is found hanging from a pear tree.©2023 Andreina Cordani (P)2023 Bonnier Books UK

The narrator brought a gripping story to life.

I thought it was a fun story which kept you guessing. It had interesting characters and a great plot. The narrator was great too.

12 days of Christmas

Lots to like here. Classic country house, cosy crime, revenge and intrigue. Involving and intricate enough.

Incredible!

I really loved this story, I loved the twists and different storylines which resulted in them. I also enjoyed the different characters and the unique theme of a murder mystery society reunion.

Spoiler- it would have been nice for the cook to be reintroduced/ been involved somehow/ told her ending. I feel like she was involved for the majority of the story and something was building up but then nothing happened.

Thank you so much.

Most enjoyable

I really did enjoy this well written book full of complex, and vile characters and situations. Well narrated book about a group of so called 'friends'. Lots of murders and tense situations In a country house complete with snow storm. I think I will probably be in the minority, but didn't really love the ending and found it a bit convoluted, thrown together with way too much going on. I would definitely recommend this and look forward to another book by this author.

Excellent Christmas whodunnit

We thoroughly enjoyed this story.
A traditional 1930s style who dunnit that is brought up to date and applied for 2023. Very well constructed that keeps you guessing to the end on who, how and why, Lots of red herrings, strong, believable characters
The story is extremely well narrated, really adds to the atmosphere and enhances the story.

More of a charade than a masquerade

It started off promising but the characters just were not likeable and the story was too convoluted. I lost interest but finished it. The fate of the villain wasn’t believable. The narration was good given what the reader had to work with.
