Summary
From the author of the best-selling Til Death Do Us Part comes another gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist.
Amy is a loving wife and mother to her husband and two children, Michael and Bella. It's that dedication to her family that causes her to seek help for her teenage son when it becomes apparent he is going to fail his end of school exams. Enlisting the help of a professional tutor, Amy is certain that she is doing the best thing for her child. But when she discovers that there is more to this tutor than meets the eye, it is already too late. With the rest of her family enamoured, Amy is the only one who can see that there is something not quite right about her. As the tutor becomes more involved, Amy isn't just worried about her son and his exams anymore. She is worried for the survival of her entire family.

A bit too ordinary
The story evolves mainly around everyday life and reflections of the main characters. It was well read though.

Not great…
The plot was pretty poor and I’m annoyed I’ve wasted my time listening to this.
The “lessons” were pointless, the description of the “Swedish goddess” was beyond cringey and the ending was a let down. I feel like the author tried to incorporate all their favourite parts of other books into their own and it didn’t work out very well.
The female narrator was good, but I wasn’t so keen on the male voice. It was difficult to distinguish his characters and he lacked emotion.

Not great
Weak storyline. Didn't believe in many of the characters, especially Nick (apparently an IT whizz) and Sue. Not sure that foreshadowing works in the present tense either. Maybe ok as a YA read, but wouldn't really recommend it.

Not one of his best
I have to say I struggled to stay listening to this book to the end, after listening to others I was quite disappointed in this one sadly

tense plot line great end twist
The narrator was engaging and pulled me into the story with her voice and tone.
The story itself was interesting not quite as intricate as some thrillers or Hurst's book, nonetheless I was committed to listening to the story.
I enjoyed the very end plot twist
Characters, Amy was strong but Nick just seemed a washout and the fact he had extra marital activity is a big red flag to me, hence I couldn't feel invested in him. infact he deserved the outcome.

It was okay…
Interesting enough story and I enjoyed parts of it.
The ending was a little odd and the “twist”/reveal not as exciting as hoped. I feel like having the younger sister of the accused/wrongly convicted be more involved would have made more sense!

The boring tutor
Well I got through it but what a slog. The voices drove me bonkers. Story line was good but seriously it could have been more exciting

Didn't enjoy
Firstly, writing a book is hard work so appreciation to the author for his effort. However, this was a difficult book to complete.I only completed it because I hate leaving a book unginished. The plot was predictable and the story was just overall silly. The story lacked depth. Thankfully this was free on Audible.

Not his best book
Persevered with this as this was my 4th Daniel Hurst book and enjoyed the previous books ive listened to. Maybe it was the narrator I just didn’t like which maybe gives the story an unfair judgement but that said felt the story was quite flat, very slow to start then rushed at the end and not much of a story to be honest. Still wouldn’t put me off more books by this author as previously said his books have been good but this one not for me.
