Summary
When you’re a tycoon and you sit on top of the business mountain, seems like a lot of people want to see you fall. And Cooper was at the top, but he’d made a lot of enemies in order to get there.
Then there were the women in his life, and he’d be the first to admit he’d wronged a few.
When it became clear that someone was out to destroy Cooper by ruining his reputation and the companies he owned, he hired Jake and Al, the retired ex-mobster, to find out who it was.
But sometimes there’s nothing better than a dog to save the day!
Follow Jake and Al throughout Seattle and Bainbridge Island as they search for the person who wants to destroy Cooper. With each passing day, the hunt becomes more intense, because now the person they are looking for is intent not only on destroying Cooper, but killing him as well.
This is the 16th book in the Northwest Cozy Mystery series by a USA Today best-selling author with plenty of dogs and recipes.

The trouble with a good book you get nothing done
The problem with a good book is you get nothing done and that was certainly the case with this book. I think this might be my favourite book by this author. I liked the fact that Jake and Al are the main characters in this episode but don't worry the ladies and the love able dogs still have a part to play. It also works great as a standalone or part of the series, as it is mainly focused on the investigation and you don't really need to know the background history. There is no murder but lots of tension as the book draws to an end. I also liked the group of suspects and Jake and Al's investigation into each alibi. The story does set it up for the next book so you can what I am going to be getting.
DeeDee's dream of opening her own restaurant is put on hold when Cooper the man backing her dreams is suddenly attacked by a hate campaign. He hires Jake and Al to find out if all the negative publicity over his business dealings and his personal life is just a coincidence of if some one is really out to get him. Being rich and handsome means there is plenty of suspects for the pair to question from ex girlfriends to business rivals and even family members. Can they work out who is behind it before it turns deadly?
I really found myself enjoying the narrator for this book. She is pleasant and used her voice well to bring life to the characters.
