Summary
From the author of Future Shock comes a striking way out of today's despair...a bracing, optimistic look at our new potentials.
The Third Wave makes startling sense of the violent changes now battering our world. Its sweeping synthesis casts fresh light on our new forms of marriage and family, on today's dramatic changes in business and economics. It explains the role of cults, the new definitions of work, play, love, and success. It points toward new forms of 21st-century democracy.

Brilliantly ties societal & economic change
An incredible book that lays out the causation and paths of change of the economy, society and to an extent, geopolitics. The fact that it was written in the late 70's and early 80's is even more astonishing, but in no way detracts from the change which is still playing out. Of course there are attempts to reverse this essentially liberal path, as Toffler predicted, with Oil companies lobbying governments for tax exemptions and subsidies ( UK). This to keep their declining and unsustainable show on the road, or Brexit, attempting to turn the UK back to something between the 1950's and the 1830's, as nobody could define in any manifesto, what most people might agree. But almost as quickly as Brexit is implemented, the public shift back to a Liberal and Green direction as they had been on until a few years before.
Of course, the Third Wave is primarily between american oriented and universal. Non western cultures are on a similar path but a lot further behind. For instance, in Afghanistan following the removal of western troops, the Taliban took it over again, but despite severe penalties, they cannot prevent people from educating young women. They cannot make people accept a medieval future.
