About this listen
That there was ever a planet called Earth, only Earl Dumarest believed. He had been seeking it a long time, though nobody else at the crowded galactic center believed in it. He had acquired some bits of information during his search outwards: a terrestrial zodiac, an authentic painting of Luna, a general series of hints that he was getting closer. Then he learned of a man who knew where Earth was, who had the special coordinates that would take a starship directly to it!
The man had lived on Elysius, and his widow knew where his data was. She demanded a price from Dumarest - a chore that involved a mining expedition, which would bring her back a fortune and him the information.
But Elysius was not the Elysium its name projected - and the terra data did not so rapidly come by!

Awful performance. Not professional.
I didn't know how to rate the story as this performance was so bad I wasn't able to listen to it. It's a very amateurish narration, which sounds more like a volunteer project than a professional recording. I've heard similar from Librivox recordings on rare occasions, but generally those free and volunteer-made recordings were of much better quality than this.
This narrator's intonations were just strange, almost like they didn't understand what they were reading and were just reading the words. It made it incredibly difficult to actually get a grasp of the story and required a lot of concentration to comprehend the sentences that were spoken. I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I've heard better text-to-speech renditions of stories. There were also sections that were very obviously overdubs after the fact as well as variations in volume during the recording.
Bizarrely when reading character quotes the performance was actually quite good, but most of the book isn't characters talking.
I'm looking into getting a refund as I know I will never be able to listen to this.
