About this listen
Lynn is an imprinter, one chosen by the Goddess to receive her greatest gift, that of creating new life. So why does she feel like a prisoner in the Temple?
When Lynn learns she is to be relocated to the temple at Landfall, the arduous journey seems more like a gift - her last chance to see something of the outside world. She does not anticipate the dangers and temptations she will encounter along the way, nor does she expect Lieutenant Kim Ramon, an officer in the squadron of Rangers assigned to protect her. Despite all prohibitions forbidding it, attraction grows between the two women.
Against them stand the powerful religious Sisterhood and their holy warriors - the Temple Guards. In a world ruled by the Church, what chance is there that Lynn can escape?

Excellent book badly read
Excellent story with compelling characters. Also loved the epilogue. I will love to see the epilogue turned into a book. I love this author's books and have read them all. I am very glad to see her books on Audible, but please get a better narrator. The narration started off reasonably well, but as it progressed, it became rather bad - probably the worst narration I have encountered this far.

Great story, shame about the narrator
I love Jane Fletcher's books I gave all the paperback; so it is with regret that I admit I struggled with this audio book. The narrative was very difficult to follow, with speech unclear at times, words mispronounced and over long pauses. l felt like I was listening to an instruction manual. such a shame! Would love to hear it read by someone else.

Amazing story
I really enjoyed this story, it was engaging and thought provoking. Unlike other all-female worlds the author thoughtfully imagines not a utopia but a realistic depiction of what such a society may look like, especially without modern technology. In fact she goes even further in her condemnation of the entire genre of utopian fiction.
The characters are interesting and although a bit cliched the romance that develops between them is believable and quite enjoyable to read.
The narration was fine if you listen on x1.25 but on normal speed is quite bad. The monotone delivery awkward pauses and frequent mistakes show both an inexperienced narrator and bad sound design.
I would really like the rest of the series in audio format too, but will like to hear it from a better performer.

Great story, terrible narration
Interresting world, with full characters and a great story. Would love to have more of Jane Fletcher's books on audible.
Narration started off ok but unfortunately there are parts where the narration does not match the events, does not flow easily as a conversation is happening and there are parts overlapping. Narration was put together badly.
