About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Four new tales of Doctors Catt and Fisher....

Scholars, shopkeepers, collectors...aficionados. Obtainers of rare antiquities; relic hunters who can't resist a lead, even when it takes them into terrible danger. There's always an opportunity to be found amid the confusion, in the wake of the terrible Kinslayer War. There's always a deal to be done, a tomb to open, a precious thing to...obtain.

From encounters with the monstrous Vathesk to exploring new worlds; from wielding great power to do great good, to unearthing dark things best left lost. If you need the experts, if you can find your way to their Cherivell shop, maybe you can hire Doctors Catt and Fisher.

Unbearably Bad Narration

Credit where it is due, the stories are good. They are fun, interesting and written with much of the wit of the original book.
It's such a shame that they are read by this narrator. The man has the ability to vary cadence, pitch and tone and demonstrates this repeatedly, however, he doesn't know why or when to do so. Phrases are chopped up in a way that leaves you replaying the sentence in your head just so you can figure out what it was supposed to mean when spoken correctly.
Characters that are described as breathless have their dialogue shouted and some even have their dialogue switched with other characters when the narrator fails to follow the conversation he himself is reading.
It's so painfully bad, I have to go listen to something else, I can't even use it as a book to fall asleep to because it is so aggravating.
