About this listen
On a clear autumn morning in 2004, Rachel O'Reilly, a 30-year-old mother of two, was brutally battered to death in her home. It was a merciless killing that stunned the small, trusting community where she lived, and devastated her close-knit family.
In the days that followed the discovery of her body, it was thought that Rachel was the victim of a bungled robbery attempt. It soon emerged, however, that police investigating the case believed Rachel had known her killer and that her murder had been carefully planned months in advance. The spotlight immediately fell upon Rachel's husband, Joe O'Reilly, who admitted in a number of extraordinary press interviews that he was a prime suspect in his wife's slaying. The 32-year-old advertising executive vehemently denied any involvement. It was a crime that captured the imagination of the public, who watched as the illusion of the idyllic suburban life the couple shared together began to shatter.

Good book, totally let down by the narration
The narrator tries (poorly) to use an Irish accent for characters. Almost every place in the book is mid-prounounced, really taking from the experience (from a locals perspective). Should have been voiced by someone who is familiar with Ireland.

Delivery took from impact of a powerful story
Narrators pronunciation of irish names was flawed and when attempting reported speech using an Irish accent, I'm afraid it was embarrassing. The story itself is both chilling and compelling but it was somewhat let down by the performance

Very sad story close to home for me.
Beautifully read book. Such a sad story of a young mum doing the morning school run for the last time. I live only about 30 miles from where all this happened so it feels very close to home for me. Some of the place names and Irish accents had an interesting spin put on them by the narrator but that didn't take away from the story at all. Highly recommend.

Suspect
Brilliant story but please audible stop getting narration that’s from a different country to put other countries accents on. They sound ridiculous. The worst Irish accent I’ve ever heard . And the Scottish one🙄. Just tell the story fgs.

Well written book pity about the narrator
A tragedy that happened not too far away from where I live. It lost stars on my review because the narrators poor attempt at the Irish accent and imitation of the males voices in the book almost put me off listening to it. There wasn’t a need for it.

Terrible accent interpretation
The Irish accents are really dire and over the top stereotypical. Nearly put me off listening tbh

Good book but awful narration
Struggled to listen in parts as narration accents were awful and mispronounced words. Good book otherwise

Scottish accent made me choke on my tea..
This is a straightforward chronological account and as such is fine, fairly interesting. Narrator's perfectly ok / reads well until she feels the need to lapse into thick Celtic brogues. Her Scottish accent beggars belief - spectacular!

Interesting
I enjoyed the story, pity the narrator sounded more Jamaican than Irish. No need for accents,

Good Story but miscarriage of Justice
I like this, it's well written and performed, apart from the narrator can't decide whether she's American or Irish. I'm just a bit uncomfortable with the justice in this case, it's all circumstantial evidence, this book presumes he's guilty, but doesn't present any evidence.
