About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel…

ABBY:

I’m falling for the father of the baby I’m carrying.

The problem is: it’s not my baby. And the broody widower is not looking for a long-term partner.

As a surrogate, the deal was that I’d only be in England long enough to give birth.

At first, the man seemed as pretentious as his name: Sigmund Benedictus. He and I butted heads.

Sig challenged my intentions, accused me of just wanting to do this for the money.

Gradually, he learned to trust me.

He even became protective. Over time, our heated animosity turned into fiery chemistry.

I was falling in love with him. But my time here had a limit. I needed to protect my heart from the devastatingly gorgeous older man who’d end up breaking it.

SIG:

When my in-laws told me they wanted to use my dead wife’s eggs to conceive a grandchild, I wasn’t immediately on board. They swore that on her deathbed Britney told them it was what she wanted—but only if I fathered the baby. Her parents insisted they would be the ones to raise it.

Against my better judgment, I agreed.

I vowed to keep my heart out of it, though.

I’d continue to pretend it wasn’t happening and live the empty, single life I’d become accustomed to the past five years since Britney died.

And despite the fact that a certain younger American named Abby Knickerbocker had awakened things inside me that I thought were long dead…

I most certainly wouldn’t fall in love with the surrogate.

Beautiful and utterly brilliant…

Having listened to the aristocrat a few times, as it’s so good and loving the big character Sig I was over-joyed Penelope wrote this book about him. If someone warranted their own book it was definitely him! If you’ve not read or recently read the Aristocrat then I’d advise doing that before this one, as I did, as the flow of them both gives maximum enjoyment and boy did I enjoy this book. It is a truly beautiful and gripping story. Don’t think twice about getting it just get it - you won’t regret it. Can’t wait for your next book, Penelope, you’re a gifted author and have never written a book I’ve not loved - thank you.

Just beautiful!

I enjoyed the Aristocrat an awful lot, but in my opinion, the Surrogate is so much better. Quite simply, it’s a beautiful story that I have devoured. Highly recommended and so worthy of a credit - I’d give this more stars if I could.

A love story

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. I read the Aristocratic first which was enjoysble. The surrogate is a tender story. I liked all the characters in it. This made me laugh and cry and narrated with confiction. I would definitely recommend it.
I would like to make a comment about all the audio books I have listened to. It would make it so much better if the female narrated read all the female parts and the make narrated read the make parts.

Surrogate Perfection

I really loved the storyline. It is a sweet love story with no real angst just normal insecurities.
I really felt for Abby and Sig. it is a true HEA. The side characters were funny.
The performances really good. I always enjoy listening to Jacob Morgan, I have listened to several books that he has narrated. It is the first time I have heard Desiree Ketchum, she has a lovely voice and they both portrayed the characters how I would have heard them when reading the book
