About this listen

A hopeless romantic and cynical news producer set out to find a “missed connection” from a NY subway. Will finding the Subway Girl lead to love?

Graphic designer and cinnamon roll Ryan Carlson is just a regular guy - a good guy - looking to meet the right woman. A transplant to New York from small town Iowa, he’s a strong believer in fate and hoping to recreate the magic his parents found. When he spies a stranger on the New York subway, he feels an instant connection. Before he can muster the courage to talk to her, the beautiful woman exits the train. Intent on finding her, he creates a website with all the details he can remember in the hopes someone will recognize her.

Angie Prince is a cynical news producer for the TMZ-style website Celebrity Monger. Between her nonexistent father figure, cheating boyfriend, and the celebrity infidelity she covers on her job, the native New Yorker believes love and goodness is for suckers. Desperate to help her unscrupulous boss take the site to network television, Angie needs a big story to boost ratings and page views.

As Ryan’s love quest causes a social media frenzy and collides with Angie’s search for headlines, he can’t help see the gorgeous woman behind the newswoman’s tough exterior. And though Angie happily pimps Ryan’s story for ratings, the biggest news might be the growing feelings in her own heart.

Is the mismatched couple’s focus for affections totally off track, or is fate about to arrive on platform passion?

The Subway Girl combines witty humor, sizzling chemistry, likeable characters, funny banter, and heart-swooning moments into a story of unexpected love and fate.

If you love opposites-attract romances, small-town heroes, sassy heroines, and great banter, scroll up now to buy.

The story it self was really good. A cute rom com. The only downfall for me is I felt a few things were drawn out.
Erin Mallon is always great with Narrative!

Romantic Comedy

The Subway Girl by Lisa Becker is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Erin Mallon.

I absolutely love Lisa’s books! They always leave me with a smile on my face. I loved that this wasn’t your typical romance story. The book pulled me in and I had to listen to it in one sitting. I really enjoyed that we got different characters points of views throughout the book. It really helped bring the story to life. You can’t help but root for Angie and Ryan.

Erin did an amazing job on the narration. She always knows how to bring a story to life!

I would highly recommend this book if you love Romantic Comedies, Contemporary Romance, or just romance books in general.

Feel good, heart warming & funny!

Have you ever seen that person that you never met and wonder what would have happened if you approached them? Ryan sees his mysterious Subway girl, but she gets off at her stop before he gets the chance to talk to her. Now with the help of Angie and social media, he is on his way to finding his dream girl. He just doesn't know what his dream girl really is. Fun, flirty, and relevant, Becker pens a story that has a little bit of everything. It has great friendships, fantastic humor, rising passion, social media blunders and the romance of a lifetime. This is a refreshing listen and perfect for the summer! I loved it.

Erin Mallon brings it all to life with her extraordinary narration. I love her voice and every time I listen, find myself just relaxing and enjoying. I know she understands her characters and gives them the feelings and inflections to make the story magic.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a lot of fun to listen to the audio! Erin Mallon did a fantastic job on all the narration.

I loved the banter, the movie and music references it really brought me into the story. I liked the way the relationship unfolded and you really rooted for this couple. Ryan and Angie were so cute, and I didn't want him to find the Subway Girl!

Recommended listen.

Fun audiobook

The Subway Girl is a cute, fun audiobook with excellent narration. Without giving away any spoilers, there's a bit more frustration to get to the ending than I'd prefer, but it is still a great story. I especially liked all the pop culture references.

Outstanding RomCom & Narration🎧A Heartfelt Delight

This book is an enjoyable delight! I loved everything about it, from Lisa Becker’s wonderful writing style to the storylines and characters she created to Erin Mallon fabulous narration. The story is original with interesting storylines that grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored Ryan Carlson, a hopeless romantic with charm and a lot of heart. What he was willing to do to find the girl she had a brief encounter with in the NYC Subway. He knew she was the “one”, his “one”. Angie Prince a reporter at Celebrity Monger thinks she has found the story that will make her career, she gets Ryan on broad and she starts a social media frenzy in search of his Subway girl. I loved this premise, it was getting a great response and was taking on a life of its own. But the web producer wanted more and started manipulating Angie’s idea to stir up drama, including bringing in Ryan’s cheating ex amongst other things. I am keeping things vague because it is best to go in spoiler free. This story is brilliantly plotted and there is never a dull moment. There is drama, some great humor and bantering dialogue, some heartfelt and emotional moments, some twists and turns all leading to an amazing friendship and romance. Sometimes things happen for a reason and you do find what you are looking for. Lisa Becker, thank you for another awesome story.

Erin Mallon is perfectly casted to bring this story and it’s characters to life. She is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She performs the voices for all the characters, covers both the male and female roles with perfection, giving each their own unique sound which makes it easy to follow along. She effortlessly handles all the back and forth banter and lands the humor without missing a beat. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Not the book for me

I’ve enjoyed Lisa Becker’s books in the past, in fact Starfish is a 5 star read for me that I recommend all the time, but the writing style here did not work for me. I’m definitely in the minority though. The books switches through multiple POVs, more than just the two main MCs, and the in depth look into these side characters lives took away from the main couple for me. I ended up feeling that their connection was really shallow and not being invested in it.

Narration: Erin Mallon has such a unique voice , but I didn’t like that she was narrating for multiple POVs and would prefer her in dual/duet narration or as part of a multi-cast.
