About this listen

Biblical Christianity is more than just another private religious view. It's more than just a personal relationship with God or a source of moral teaching.

Christianity is a picture of reality.

It explains why the world is the way it is. When the pieces of this puzzle are properly assembled, we see the big picture clearly. Christianity is a true story of how the world began, why the world is the way it is, what role humans play in the drama, and how all the plotlines of the story are resolved in the end.

In The Story of Reality, best-selling author and host of Stand to Reason Gregory Koukl explains the five words that form the narrative backbone of the Christian story. He identifies the most important things that happen in the story in the order they take place:

  • God
  • Man
  • Jesus
  • Cross
  • Resurrection

Our story begins with God. He created everything, but something went terribly wrong. So God initiated a rescue plan and entered the world that he had made by becoming like us in Jesus Christ. Jesus saved us from the wrongness in ourselves and in the world through his death on a cross. And how people respond to what he did will determine their future, at the final event of history: the resurrection.

If you are already a Christian, this is your story. Do you know it? If you are not a Christian, this is still your story, because it explains the world in a way that nothing else will. It is a true story—the real story behind every other story we hear.

The narration is done by the writer himself and will give the narration audiobook a emphasis that the writer wants.

Every Christian Needs This Book

For so many believers the Bible is a series of short encouraging sayings that bring comfort and encouragement. Of course there is Jesus and His return, but we tedn to run out of steam after that. In The Story of Reality, Gregory Koukl lays out the big story and once we have that in place it is much easier to determine what does and doesn't fit.

New believer? This book will be a foundation for your faith and rocket fuel for your soul. If like me you have been round a bit longer, and I have been around a long time and am more well read than most, this book is still a breath of fresh air, delivering logic, context and and a beautiful depiction of the scriptural meta-narrative - he paints a wonderful picture of God, His story and our part in it.

Enjoy!

An Apologetic Primer on the Christian Faith

With a careful blend of Biblical Theology and Systematic Theology, Koukl presents the story of the Christian faith with its truths in a persuasive fashion in his own masterful, conversational style. All this makes this book a delightful listen!

Engaging and important

This book is an account of the Christian worldview, told in narrative, with sprinkles of Christian apologetics (the case for the truthfulness of Christianity).
Going in, I thought there would be more of the supernatural, something like Michael Heiser. Perhaps that's on me and not the author. Also, it was a bit of a shame that I didn't come away with that many new (at least new to me) insights. Again, perhaps that's on me. As such, this is a great work for those fresh to thinking about the Christian worldview, or even existing Christians who have never stopped to think about why the world is the way it is, and just what it was that Christ Jesus came to do.
The narration was fantastic, and not just because he reminds me of Adam West!
I am grateful to the author for writing it, and I enjoyed his company.
If you were after an account of reality, that is, the Christian worldview, you won't really go wrong with this title.
