On board a cruise ship in the Mediterranean, Kimberly wakes to discover that her two-year-old son Robert has vanished from the cabin overnight. She and her husband Jason vow to do whatever it takes to bring Robert home.
But he is never found.
Forty years later, their therapist daughter Lily welcomes a new client into her home. Zach has a shocking theory about what happened to her brother Robert years before.
If Zach is to be believed, someone out there knows what happened on that ship. And they would do anything to stop the truth getting out.
But secrets always find a way to reveal themselves . . .

Great book but struggled in parts with narrator
I enjoyed the story, easy listen which kept me engaged. It was somewhat predictable in part, some chapters were overly long I felt and went slightly off on a tangent. But it’s a good listen, But…. I really never want to complain about the narrator but in the last third of the book I really struggled to keep listening. The narrator’s mouth noises were very distracting and difficult for me to listen to. I didn’t notice them really until the last third of the book and then could not hear anything else. I really struggled to finish the book because of it, I am sad to report. I think quality control should pick up on things like this with an audiobook as it has a huge impact. I shall check other reviews to see if I am the only one who found it a problem. If this is the case then clearly the issue is with me.

Interesting, engaging and clever.
Enjoyed the split narrative of the two stories and couldn’t wait to find out how they would be connected. It was a pleasure listening to it.

Unexpected plot twists!
A really engaging novel, with interesting and conflicted characters.
I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Well-paced. A few unexpected plot twists. The audiobook version is very good.
There is movement between the present and the past and followers two separarte storylines that ultimately overlap in a most surprising way.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars.

Not believable, I’m afraid.
Honestly I really didn’t like this book. It started well then tailed off and was hard work to continue listening. Too much ‘now’ ‘then’ and ‘before’! And the denouement was just ridiculous. Do people really steal children(or not) and keep it secret for 40 - inflicting immense pain on their supposed loved ones…
Sorry not for me.
