About this listen

The Aryshan Empire and Earth are on the brink of war!

The Stars Entwined is the first installment in an epic space opera series by multiple award-nominated science-fiction writer Jon Del Arroz. If you like Old Man’s War by John Scalzi or Rogue World by B.V. Larson, then you’ll love this epic adventure with action, intrigue, and an escalating interstellar war between galactic civilizations.

After several recent attacks along the border of Aryshan space, internal affairs agent Sean Barrows is brought to Palmer Station to ensure the Interplanetary Navy’s on the right track in their terrorism investigations. What he discovers could lead to the biggest war the galaxy has ever seen. Sean’s work leads him to his most dangerous assignment yet—into the heart of Aryshan territory as a spy.

Meanwhile, Aryshan Commander Tamar is being groomed by the Ruling Committee to one day assume leadership of her people. First, she needs to prove herself in warship command. As tensions increase with Earth, Tamar finds herself increasingly isolated as one of the few in opposition to the war. Her troubles deepen when she comes face-to-face with a new member of her crew, the most intriguing man she’s ever encountered.

Good Space Opera with classic Military bent

Like early Weber and Dandridge combined with a dash of The good Star Trek DS9(you know, the one from way back).

Solid and fun, not Tolstoy but honestly, who wants to plow through Russian angst nowadays?

I prefer my escapism to be a positive factor on my mood and I will buy book No. 2 when he release it.

A pretty decent original Sci-Fi story

A human going undercover as an alien is an interesting trope when the species' societies are vastly different, the Aresh having an emotional psychic link within their tribes is a very fascinating idea and definitely makes such a mission even more difficult to pull off - a spy thriller story with this idea would be especially fun.

Not really a fan of how the story tends towards a "Dances with Wolves" romance; some scenes that should lead to interesting action packed moments are skipped over entirely from them being placed at the end of the chapter before leading into the next once the excitement is over, until the finale where the action is the focus; the narrator was serviceable but gave some important secondary characters voices that sounded a bit too similar, making it a little awkward to tell them apart unless mentioned by name.

Definitely something different to give a try if you're looking for alien space stories without a big IP name attached to it.
