About this listen
During the Salem Witch Trials over four hundred years ago, Ezekiel and Jeremiah Turner stumbled upon the knowledge needed to tap into unused parts of the human brain. What they discovered was the ability to telepathically call the soul of their destined soulmate, the one created for them.
Their family secret has been passed down from generation to generation. Jeffrey Turner, aka Rey, a direct descendant of Ezekiel Turner, found his soulmate only to push her away. At 19, a player, and not ready for his destined happily ever after, he threw away the best thing that ever happened to him, or so he thought.

Slow starter
Soulmates Call is the first in the series and concerns the story of Rey and Lisbeth and how they discover they are true soulmates. Along the way there are a few setbacks to their road to happiness, namely jealous exes, but they overcome these odds because of their unique connection.
The story line and plot are quite unique and the
sudio book is nicely narrated and easy to listen to if you can get past the hundreds of times the words soul and soulmate appears. For me it strated to grate, so much so, I had to take my time listening to it over a longer period than I would have liked.
As this was a new author for me I had no idea what to expect from the book, however somewhere along the line I had seen it advertised, or mentioning the Salem Witch trials and had hope for more of that history in the book , but alas none appeared. Hence my low rating but if you enjoy stories more constrained and ground in strict religious or moral beliefs then this is for you.
My sincere thanks to the author for the free audio version of this book which I received in return for my honest and unbiased review.

Great
Loved the story of Rey and Lisbeth. A romantic quick pace book, and the 2 stories within a story also worked well. Really enjoyed.

A little bit lacking
I liked the idea of this plot but the actual story was a bit disappointing. I found myself getting a bit frustrated with the near constant repetition of themes, terms of endearment, experiences, etc, to establish the nature of the protagonists' relationship.
I would have said that this is a young adult romance because of the teenager like angst experienced by the characters, their age and the setting. But I felt that once they met and their souls called to each other, their focus shifted to sex. As such, the plot was actually lacking in substance. It was all about being tempted by sex and choosing to have it or not to have it. I also felt that the author might have been expressing her personal beliefs on the issue by listing reasons not to have sex before marriage, including quoting the Bible.
I did like that they respected each other's views on the subject, but I struggled with sex being the main reason why they opted to get married so quickly. I felt it would have been healthier to focus a little on their college experience and growing together as two deeply connected individuals. The obstacles that they faced also felt very contrived rather than organic.
Despite that, I am going to listen to the next book. I think the premise of this series is promising.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Amazing start to a new series
Be prepared for the steamy heat moments!
So, Rey made a slight or maybe a big mistake when he ran from his soulmate. He had to work hard to make it up to Lizabeth cause she was not going to forgive him easily. As these these two work together, you will be immersed in their life and relationship.

soul
I loved the narration of Annalee Scott, just perfect for this book.
I loved the idea of being able to call for your true Soul Mate. You will find this book is full of romance
Lisabeth fell in love with Rey at first sight. Straight way they connect with each other in their heads and thoughts.
Beautifully written.
