Summary

After four decades in the music industry, Michael Bolton has cemented himself as one of the most successful musicians of our time. The Soul of it All is his backstage pass into his life lived thus far - into the venues, buses, limos and hotel rooms of stardom, and finally into his home and heart.

His story will go long and dive deep, not only into his self-proclaimed 'vagabond vampire' life, but also into the belly of the beast that is the music industry, with its joys, follies and torments. From a 14-year-old kid performing in dive bars to struggling to provide for his wife and kids, to finally breaking through with the Soul Provider album, Bolton has fought for and earned a life most just dream of. The Soul of it All is his life, chockful of all the incredible stories, and the star-studded cast you'd expect, including: Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Ray Charles and Lady Gaga.

Beautiful life story

Very interesting, with a little bit of humour. The mysteries of the "behind the scenes" from his 80s is unveiled and that's what I I loved the most.

Really like Michael Bolton but........

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Love his singing voice but his speaking voice is dreary, flat and monotone. Could he not spare a little of the passion he displays in his singing into his reading?

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Soul of It All?

Finding out how he struggled for many years before achieving success.

How could the performance have been better?

Have a different narrator.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Yes
