THE PERFECT TRIP

When four friends embark on a boys’ skiing holiday in the Alps, they anticipate a weekend of fun, drinking, and some healthy competition on the slopes. But their trip is cut short when one of them falls to his death.

A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT…

Tom’s widow, Zoe travels to France with her friend, Ivy to collect his body. While Zoe is consumed by grief, Ivy starts to question everything.

OR COLD-BLOODED MURDER?

The slope Tom fell from wasn’t dangerous, and tensions between the group were at breaking point in the days before his death.

But if Ivy’s suspicions are correct, Tom was killed by one of his closest friends. And they are still in the chalet…

It was okay then the ending ruined it

The ending was so awful and cringe worthy that it ruined the already average book. What a shame. It had good bones but plenty of times throughout where the writing let it down. Then the ending just sealed it’s fate.

Incredulously

Whether it’s the habit of the author to overuse ‘incredulously’ as an adjective or not, to employ a narrator who cannot pronounce it is painful to listen to. There’s another few mispronunciations but you can overlook them as they’re not overused. Also, the ‘patching’ of when a section of narration has to be redone are very obvious and off putting.
I haven’t actually finished the book yet, but overall, it’s well written and has kept my interest. I just couldn’t get over the narration errors!

Awful characters

I think this will be the last Sarah Clarke novel I will listen to. Characters are always awful.

Gave up half way through

Although easy enough to listen to I found the story quite boring and flat. I tried to stick with it but eventually gave up due to lack of interesting plot / characters.

Enjoyable and clever

Really enjoyed listening to this. It kept me captured and found the story twists unpredictable. There were some points where the pick ups were obvious but this has apparently been rectified. The narrator has a very pleasant voice and you really hear the difference between the characters. I finished it within days!

Ridiculous motive

Oh dear, this book is bad. Really bad. Drawn out and preposterous rubbish. Makes no sense that any of the individuals involved would proceed with their crimes based on the weak and idiotic motives detailed throughout the book. Everyone was annoying, the storyline weak and poorly researched. I would most definitely recommend avoiding this book. Wish I had.
