About this listen
Ten-year-old Soren is the youngest apprentice of the legendary warrior Raven Lennox. At the age of 16, Soren is expected to fight in the eternal war against the Brotherhood of Shadow. But is the young prince up to the task, when he's more interested in mischief than in weapons?
When one of Soren’s adventures goes off course, he accidentally unleashes a deadly threat. An age-old prophecy is coming to pass, and Soren must take a perilous journey deep into enemy territory.
But does he have what it takes to save his country? Or, will the brotherhood destroy everything he loves?

fantastic, but
A fantastic young adult fantasy audiobook , however the editing at the start is really atrocious actually the first two and a half chapters had no editing and you had the narrator turning the pages which was really distracting. Once that was done it was a great audiobook xxxxx

Intriguing read
Reading some more about the Children of Light and the brotherhood of Shadows was great. Although you can read the first and the second book in the series separately this book was more of an origin story for Soren and how he ended up like you see him in A Chronicle of Chaos. I liked learning more about Callista and Raven. If you expected to read more about Chaos this is not the book for you. However, it explains more about the way the Children of Light operate and that their decisions might not have always been as rational and cold as Chaos sees them in A Chronicle of Chaos.
Cain's writing style is very readable and Mark Thalhofer is a good choice for the audiobook. In the first part of the audiobook it seems that turning the pages of the book during the recording has not been cut out completely so there's room for improvement but overall the quality of the recording is good.
