About this listen
Just beyond the reality we see, mysteries stretch into infinity.
Jake Carter was just an ordinary kid, but during his freshman year in high school, he became truly extraordinary. It all begins when Jake’s only friend Johnny almost died in a tragic accident. He was the sole survivor of an expedition during an annual class trip to the Santa Lucia Mountains. He was trapped underground for nine days after the cave they were exploring collapsed.
Weak and lifeless, he was found along the Pacific coast, nearly fifteen miles away from the entrance. While underground, Johnny experienced many strange things, and now, Jake was seeing them too! It was during this time that they discover an ancient secret - reality is merely an illusion.
A mystical universe swirls just out of sight, yet they never take notice. They’ve been forced by everyone around them to ignore one basic fact - that their power is limitless. This simple twist of fate and the several months that followed changed Jake’s life forever. With a small group of high school outcasts, they begin a strange journey. By giving up the reality they’ve always known, they grow stronger every day. Their destiny lies before them as they tumble helplessly into a world of power, energy, and terrifying beings. Once they accept the truth and reject the world they’ve always known, they finally begin to see.

The seers
A few reviewer's thought the story and narrator were ok. I would have to disagree. I believe it all boils down to what you like. I have to say before I carry on that I do not know this author or narrator and have not read/listened to anything written or narrated by either of them.
The first thing that attracted my attention was the title, I read the blurb and thought I would give it ago.
The beginning does start of slow but in my opinion the author wrote in such a way that had me hooked. The beginning was more of background information, however, the author did it so well and it was voiced by a good narrator, I did not switch off like a usually do when other authors it do this way.
I thought the characters are well written, I could picture these young adults in my mind and it is an original story.
I know this book is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like sci-fi, speculative fiction then this book is for you.
