About this listen
Dangerously addictive, The Secrets of Us is a pulse-pounding exploration of a disturbed psyche and the bond between two sisters desperate to escape a troubled past.
Foster sisters Krystal and Nichole have always been there for each other, so when Nichole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill her husband, Krystal drops everything to defend her.
Scarred by a hard upbringing, Nichole and Krystal managed to construct comfortable lives for themselves. Krystal became a respected lawyer, and Nichole was happily married to an architect - until Nichole starts raving that her husband isn’t her husband, believing that he’s an imposter.
Driven by fierce loyalty, Krystal starts asking questions, but she’s not sure she can bear the answers. Her investigation leads to the sisters’ dark shared past...to a horrible tragedy and a well-guarded lie that cemented their sisterly bond.
But that lie can’t kill the truth - the battered, gasping, clawing truth that’s coming for them both. Now Krystal and Nichole must both fight for the lives they’ve built before they’re consumed by the one they left behind.

Great story line and good narration
I loved these narrations and story line, gripping, paced and catchy story line but as with other Lucinda Berry books the ending leaves you unsatisfied; it’s good but the “what next” or lack of epilogue leaves you wanting. The ending is rushed into the last 30 mins much like other books and whilst I loved the story felt disappointed with another rushed ending.
Whilst I love the narrators and first person approaches, I did find “Nicole past” very shouty and had to turn the volume down in these parts as it was too needy and grating. All that said though the author spins a great story only losing it with her finales.

Ok but
Way too shouty. I didn't realise there were 2 different narrators they sounded so much alike. Both lacked any emotional range and I might've enjoyed this story more had it been more quietly and subtly narrated (often far more sinister).

Great mystery
I found the lid voice off Nicole very annoying to listen to, but overall I loved this book.

Trauma, loss, love and desire.
Krystal and Nicole are foster sisters who have a bond that can’t be broken. They live for their early years with the horrible combination of Veronica and her mother. They live on separate sides of the house.
When Nicole is committed to a psychiatric hospital for trying to kill her husband Aiden, Krystal who is now a lawyer needs to get to the bottom of what is going on.
The story alternates from the present to the past and extremely well as the story begins to get put together one piece at a time.
There is a great storyline to follow of trauma, loss, love and desire. Well worth picking up. Would recommend.

First of all, one of the best psychological story I have read in a while. Great writing styles and the thrill on every chapter will get you hooked.
.
2 foster sisters. Trying to make it to life . Change their appearance after a little incident when they were little .
I get so annoyed with nicole’s husband, I want to punch him . That gets to me and impact me.
.
Just gutted that it ends quickly, but looking forward for part 2 of this story.
.
Also, listen to this book aswell on audible, the narrator was amazing too!

And then I found this, it was so intriguing. written so well, and I enjoyed it so much, treat yourself and read The secrets of us, its five stars all round x x x x x
