Summary
Chief Mark Friessen is about to be a family man, with a baby on the way. However, he faces a choice: Either he breaks his word to his wife by taking on a job that will put him in danger, or he stays silent, which would haunt him forever.
Mark lives and dies by his word, and he would do anything for his wife but park his morals and turn his back on those he has sworn to protect, kids and animals, a promise he made to his wife and to himself.
After evidence uncovers a global child trafficking network with ties to his island, Mark is contacted by a secret agency of retired servicemen and cops who ask him to help track down and rescue the children no one is looking for.
The only problem is that Billy Jo is pregnant, and accepting the mission will mean Mark needs to leave her for weeks or months on end. As he struggles with his decision to leave the job he loves and the island that has become his home, he realizes he’s at a crossroads. He will need to give everything to save the children, bringing an end to the trafficking of minors, and the elite who prey on them, forever. It’s the only way to bring everyone involved to justice.

Dreadful Child trafficking story
This is quite a short book, and my first from this author. I thought that it was an interesting story detailing the adventures of a small island chief of police who is recruited for a unit that takes down child trafficking .
The premise of the type and amount of trafficking detailed in the story is truly frightening, I have no idea if it is anywhere near true, but it does sound plausible.
Unfortunately for me the experience was rather spoiled by the narrator, I found his accent quite grating and I found his rendition of any female voices to be very unpleasant, but maybe this is just my Brit's ear.

It only takes a good man to do nothing
This is the first Lorhainne Eckhart book I have listened to and I was blown away. I think I was a little shocked to hear the extent this story went to in explaining the trafficking of children also how unprotected children could be when left to the state to bring them up. Dealing with the sale of human organs.
It is a truly moving story but not one that is so sad that you would not want to listen. It is also a continuing love story between the 2 main characters, the chief of police and the head social worker. They are supported throughout by a cast of characters that are well written and integrate well with the story.
I truly could not stop listening and was intrigued by what on earth would happen next. I thoroughly recommend this as a good listen/read.

Short and Sick.
Organ harvesting,
Human trafficking.
Book number ten in this series but first to me also first from the author Lorhainne Eckhart.
For such a short book which can be read or listen as a single she does a pretty good job in her writing this mystery.
Infect it was joyful getting a good story in one evening.
All you get is a complete and interesting story without extensions like the colors of the curtains or the style of the houses in the neighborhood and the year which they where built, none of those and still interesting with unexpected twists.
This story is happening in the USA but feels like it’s China.
Leo Jones narrated this creation beautifully for each of the characters in it.
