About this listen

From the bestselling author of Australian outback romance. Over 12 million books sold worldwide.

Jenny's family think pastoral agent John Downing would make the perfect husband for her. But Jenny knows that she is not in love with him and never will be.

Thanks to her childhood friend Geoff Hallam, Jenny gets a job on an opal safari. It's an ideal opportunity to get away for the pressures of home in Yaraandoo.

Safari boss Drew Carey has a magnetic effect on Jenny. Yet it seems the beautiful and wealthy Nicole Armstrong has already staked her claim on him.

Then Jenny makes a discovery that changes everything for the safari party. They face deadly peril and a race against time. And more than one truth will be revealed to Jenny.

Lucy Walker's gentle, clean romances give listeners a fascinating insight into the landscape, people and customs of rural Australian in the mid-twentieth century.

A bit disappointing

I have always been a big fan of Lucy Walker and the background of Australia in the 1950s to 70s, and the narration is good. However, this story is not one of her best, with a weak storyline, unappealing characters and a confusing romance. My favourites, such as The Moonshiner and The Other Girl, don't seem to have been recorded yet.
