About this listen
This New York Times best seller was the inspiration for the first season of American Crime Story on FX, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.; John Travolta; David Schwimmer; and Connie Britton.
The definitive account of the O. J. Simpson trial, The Run of His Life is a prodigious feat of reporting that could have been written only by the foremost legal journalist of our time. First published less than a year after the infamous verdict, Jeffrey Toobin's nonfiction masterpiece tells the whole story, from the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman to the ruthless gamesmanship behind the scenes of "the trial of the century". Rich in character, as propulsive as a legal thriller, this enduring narrative continues to shock and fascinate with its candid depiction of the human drama that upended American life.
Please note: This audiobook is a recording of the original 1996 edition of The Run of His Life. It does not include an Afterword added to the 2013 reissued edition.

Thoroughly enjoyable, no complaints
This book is excellent, I really enjoyed it. Toobin obviously had sources in just about every aspect of this case which allows for very interesting details about what went on behind the scenes of the trial. This is probably the longest and best journalistic book about the case.

A Gripping Story
It took me a while to get used to the narrator but after a while I did and I think he did a decent job.
The OJ court case is breathtaking on many levels. As someone who is not American the racial tribalism is shocking. The story is well written and surprisingly fast paced. I think I could listen to this book a few times.

Great detailed and insightful view of the trial
Well read - very detailed, insightful and some unique views and opinions on the trial. Big investment of time at almost 19 hours but well worth it if you’re interested in the Simpson trial

Compelling and comprehensive
Toobin's book manages to not only cover all of the facts but links them together chronologically in a compelling narrative as well. He offers a fair and balanced portrayal of both sides. Where he offers his own opinion, it is clear, and he justifies his point of view with the facts of the case. This is probably the fullest and most objective account of the Simpson case, offered from the perspective of an impartial bystander, who had no affiliation to either side. It takes us back to a time when a celebrity defendant's murder trial became the centre stage for the building racial tensions and discontent within the US to play out.
