About this listen
"To be able to thrive in a field most are terrified of is a source of pride.... To be in the presence of those who have crossed over the great divide is oddly meaningful, in an ultimate sense."
In this sequel to Silent Siren: Memoirs of a Lifesaving Mortician, ride along with mortuary removal technician Matthew Franklin Sias as he cares for the deceased in rural Washington State.
Step into the hidden world of death care and explore the challenge of removing the deceased from the often-difficult, regularly awkward, and sometimes downright bizarre circumstances in which they die, the art and science of embalming, and the intrigue of forensic pathology.
Sias is a veteran death investigator, former funeral director/embalmer intern, and paramedic with 28 years of emergency response experience.

Excellent narration... Excellent book.
Interesting, funny, informative and a little putrid.

Great mix of empathy and dark humour
I loved this audiobook, so interesting and informative about a world of which most people know little. The dark humour is great, but mixed with empathy and human insight, and sometimes real sadness. You have to admire anyone doing this job and able to explain it so lucidly.

information and a little funny
loved this. The story's told so well, sometimes very sad and some just end of life. I am interested in this sort of thing and found it very interesting. also had a few laugh out loud moments.

Strangely compelling.
Plain speaking and weirdly informative. Incredibly sad in many places but the authors matter of fact approach helps to keep moving through this compelling book.

Found it disrespectful
I thought I'd really enjoy this but stopped when the writer described taking his mother to help with a dead body. I found him disrespectful and he clearly enjoys sensationalising his work. Maybe (I hope) its just different in the UK. I would not want him caring for my loved ones.

Sensationalist
Struggled to finish. Narration expressionless. Poorly written. Sorry to say all this, but feel disappointed the author wrote in such detail, but obviously, he had to rely on all the gore to sell his book.
