About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The highly anticipated sequel to Sunday Times best seller The Black Book.
Detective Billy Harney exposes an evil lurking deep within his city - but it also brings his past demons to light....
To Billy Harney, the newest member of Chicago PD's elite strike force, getting shot in the head, stalked by a state's attorney, and accused of murder by his fellow cops is all part of breaking a case.
So, when a drive-by shooting on the Chicago's West Side turns political, he doesn't shy away from leading the case.
As the easy answers prove to be the wrong ones, Harney's quest to expose the evil that's rotting the city from the inside out takes him to the one place he vowed never to return: his own troubled past.

Gripping
I followed the first book with this second of the series and it had me gripped from the beginning.
The narrator could read anything and keep me listening.
Excellent all round

similar format bit better story
This format hasn't changed in 2 books and a short story.
A corrupt cop, a mistaken assumption in the family that causes one to cover up something that didn't need covering up, a messed up partner, and a little flourish of a twist at the end.
The storyline here was definitely better than the Black Book, and the backstory into Valerie's death came into play in a great way.
the narration is a bit dry, I prefer mine with sound effects, but the narrator is good.

Simply brilliant and kept me wanting to play it non-stop!
The storyline was gripping with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end. The performance were excellent and the narration expertly undertaken. If you enjoy this, you must read.(listen to) the follow on to this, called the red book. An amazing author for sure. Plan to listen to many more of his books.

As good as the first book.
The second book is as good as the first book, now the next book. What will the next book be about?
