Summary
RITA Award-winning author Kennedy Ryan delivers the gripping conclusion to the All the King's Men Duet . Ambition. Revenge. Love.
Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option. Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we're the pawns and players. Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?

Love that spans different upbringing and culture
The suspense from the first book continues, addressing the cliffhanger. Maxim and Lenox are such tenacious, ambitious characters, steadfast in their principles and their vision for how they can change the world for the better. Maxim through raising climate change awareness, finding and using alternatives to fossil fuel like wind turbines. Whilst Lennix focuses on Native Americans and minorities rights changing policies and raising awareness using politics. This book is heavily into politics which might not suit all, however I didn't mind it. The intense passion they have for each other continues and matures in this instalment as they're both older and appreciate each other more. They weather the storms of some very sad and torrid times, but throughout remain loyal to one another which is endearing.
It did annoy me that Lennix coerced Maxim into choosing to do something that she later said would mean she's uncertain whether she can marry him??! Why would you talk the person you love into doing something, then turn around and say due to that choice you're not sure you can marry them.
That aside i really enjoyed this series, it was more than just a romance it covered important relevant topics and I learned whilst devouring the sexual chemistry. Well written, will definitely read more from this author again.
