About this listen

She is omnivorous. No matter age or appearance, physical frailty or imperfection. It is not their flesh that feeds her appetites but their souls. She devours young and old, men and women. She leaves only a desiccated husk.

An unspeakable evil. An impossible gift.

Renowned magus Taita is now over 100 years old and has ascended to a new level of wisdom and understanding about his world. But he must prepare himself for the biggest threat Egypt has ever faced: the great plagues and the failure of the Nile, brought about by the fire witch Eos, an ancient force of sheer evil.

Taita must risk his soul to battle against Eos, or his homeland and everything he has ever loved will be lost forever. But there are other reasons for Taita to fight - since success could also mean rewards he could never have thought possible....

The fourth book in the epic Egyptian series.

Erotica Fantasy - in Ancient Egypt?

Not really sure what Mr Smith has done to this story, but I was compelled to get to the end of it. Somehow, the hero of the story is now capable of all sorts of magic. This story takes you further along the pharaoh family line but Tahiata (who is still alive, well and healthy) is able to perform all sorts of sorcery. It takes him through miraculous adventures even managing to grow a new appendage. All very peculiar. There are some good parts of the story, its not rubbish, but it feels as though Mr Smith has been watching (or reading) Game of Thrones and decided, "I want some of that". Very erotic and very fanciful. But hey ho, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

Excellent

A story with a pace that was calming yet occasional moments of high drama to excite.

One of those series that you hope never ends.

I love these books. The story and narrator are both great. low key consumed with grief that I've finished it.

Fantasy but not fantastic

River God, and the Seventh Scroll were brilliant;; Warlock was excellent but The Quest is a mish mash of mumbo jumbo, stem cell hocus pocus and cannibalism. It just didn't grip me in the same way as the previous books in the Egyptian series or the fantastic Courtney and Ballantyne series. The narrator did a good job.
