Summary
Growing up in squalor with their drug-addicted prostitute mother, sisters Georgie and Marnie Parker have had to endure the very darkest side of life. When their mother is sentenced for brutally murdering a client, Georgie and Marnie’s already precarious lives are blown apart and they now share a terrible secret. Sent to a children’s home, the sisters hope this might finally be their safe haven after years of neglect. But they soon discover they’re in real danger.
Desperate to find a place of safety, Georgie and Marnie run for their lives, but end up in the hands of Delray Anderton. A violent London gangster and notorious pimp, Delray has big plans for beautiful teenager Georgie, seeing her as a chance to make some serious money.
Fiercely protective of each other, Georgie and Marnie must escape the clutches of a man who will do anything to keep the sisters for himself. And, they must keep the promise they made to each other – no one can ever know the truth.

Coundn't stop listening!!
This book is about far out of my usual choice of genre as you can get! But I was utterly gripped from the very start! Dragged in to a dark, gritty underworld which left me feeling horrified and saddened but morbidly fascinated and unable to turn away!!
The performance is utterly compelling and the incredibly talented voice actor makes the story come to life with her ability to switch characters and voices so realistically!! Her performance allows you to develop real feelings of caring, fear and loathing as she takes you through the lives of prostitutes, pimps, social workers and so many more!!
cannot recommend enough!!

Outstanding narration of a gripping and gritty thriller
I usually read psychological thrillers and it's a very long time since I've chosen anything at this end of the crime genre. However I may be converted after listening to this! Well written and astonishingly narrated, this book is based in a world of South London prostitutes and the people around them. A fairly large cast of characters were acted clearly as separate people with different but consistent voices. The acting was fantastic and I have literally never been so glued to an audiobook before.
I'll look up Casey Kelleher next time I'm in the mood for this sort of book, but the stand out here for me is the narration. This seems to be Jen Austen's first audiobook but I would get anything she reads as she brought the while thing fully to life.

Good but no depth.
The story started of well & then went at speed to the end without giving any depth or back story to the story. It was pretty farfetched in truth.
