Summary
The Pretender is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy about the boy next door and the girl who did the unthinkable to win his affection. Previously published as Subscriber Wars by Kristy Marie.
Secrets. Lies. Betrayal. Mine and Sebastian’s relationship wasn’t built on the foundation of trust. It was built over war. A ruthless war that exposed who we really were.
Enemies. Imposters. And Lovers. Sebastian and I would never be friends—not after what we did. But we could pretend—especially for the million-dollar prize—in a cutthroat film competition that would set our careers in motion.
We needed this win to fix our reputations. But that’s not what happened. They say money ruins relationships. I disagree. Love is the ultimate destroyer. Love ruined us. Love made us pretenders.

Valentina and Sebastian!
Valentina is bold, brash and isn’t about to back down from anyone or anything and that holds true when she finds herself in a battle to outdo Sebastian when it comes to practical jokes as not only is it fun but it makes them online stars as well. It all comes to a crashing end when lines are crossed and now they are both paying the price.
To the world at large Sebastian appears to be confident and impenetrable however appearances can be deceiving. When he finds out about a contest that will not only help them financially but with their online presence as well he suggests that he and Valentina become a team rather than adversaries. They used to be friends so pretending to be in a relationship should be easy, right?
Although the interactions between Sebastian and Valentina will have you laughing out loud, the chemistry radiates off the pages and the characters draw you in there is also an emotional connection that neither can deny. The performance of the narrators brought out both the strength of the characters and their sensitive sides as they finally acknowledge how special what they share truly is
